Te Puia park is the home of a spectacular sight, the Pohutu Geyser, geothermal activities and the heart of Maori culture. You can take part in a Powhiri – a Maori greeting ceremony and enjoy a cultural performance and Maori dance.
Pause for a deep breath in the Redwood forest and perhaps walk among the giant trees. We will take you to admire Lake Tarawera and the Blue and Green Lakes which are surrounded with rain forest clad hills. We will share Maori legends with you about mythical animals, love stories, Maori chiefs, the first tourists and the Mount Tarawera eruption.
We can also visit the Tamaki Maori village which is the place to be closer to old traditions, skills and friendly people. You are welcome to taste hangi which is the traditional Maori way of cooking and is delicious, fresh and healthy.
